Midland Independent Newspapers has announced that it is involved in discussions with Mirror Group Plc, which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the company. Both Boards are exploring the level of benefits which would accrue from a combination of their respective businesses. Any such offer would be subject to a mandatory reference to the Monopoly and Mergers Commission.
Shares in MIN have risen by 28p to 177p, while Mirror Group fell 3.5p to 205p on the news.
