Amazon has moved one step closer to realising the company’s ‘Buy Once, Enjoy Anywhere’ mantra as the Amazon Instant Video app launched across all iOS devices last Friday.
The American over-the-top video on demand service was launched solely for the iPad in August 2012. This new release enables customers to stream or download previously purchased Amazon Instant Video content from their video library, directly on their iPhone or iPod touch.
“Our customers tell us they want the convenience of being able to watch all of their movies and TV episodes, wherever they are,” said Anthony Bay, Amazon.com Vice President for Video. “Today we’re excited to extend our ‘buy once, enjoy everywhere’ approach to iPhone and iPod touch users, giving customers the chance to enjoy more than 140,000 titles from Amazon Instant Video and more than 30,000 titles from Prime Instant Video anytime, anywhere.”
Amazon has stepped up its OTT offering in the US to compete with rival Netflix. Amazon Instant Video is available on Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and most recently Nintendo’s Wii U.
