Telegraph Issue Writ To ABC

The Telegraph has issued a writ for breach of contract against the ABC.

This follows ABC’s attempts to make The Telegraph answer a complaint by Times Newspapers Ltd regarding its Advance Purchase Programme and whether or not the newspapers, sold as part of this, constitute a full rate sale under ABC rules *ABC Dispute Update.

The Times argues that ABC should not count these subscription sales as full sales. However, The Telegraph claims that it took advice from ABC last April before launching its subscription scheme. The paper state that ABC’s response was that these should be categorised as full rate sales.

In the light of this, The Telegraph believes it has no other option, but to seek a judicial ruling. The Telegraph had previously complained that the Monday edition of The Times, which is sold for 10p, should not be counted as a full sale, the ABC rejected the complaint.
