The British Video Association has announced that retail video sales for the first three months of 1997 have grown by 14% year-on-year.
Film was the biggest growth sector; Independence Day, Stargate, Babe, Heat and Trainspotting were among the top sellers.
March was particularly strong due to a batch of children’s releases timed to coincide with Easter. Supermarkets accounted for 27% of children’s sales last month.
