An extra 2 million homes will be able to receive Channel when it starts broadcasting on the Astra satellite from the middle of next week.
The move, the first by a British terrestrial broadcaster means, that homes outside of 5’s current terrestrial and cable transmission footprint will now have the option of receiving the fifth channel via dish.
Channel 5 will be broadcasting from transponder 63 on the Astra 1D satellite. As a free-to-air channel, viewers will not have to pay to any subscription to watch 5 on satellite.
