Channel 5 Ratings Round-Up
Channel 5’s first full week of ratings has now been made public and Elstein and his crew have nothing to celebrate.
Mrs Doubtfire is its biggest ratings winner to date, attracting 2,849,000 consolidated viewers. Indeed, the evening film is proving to be the channel’s most popular slot; My Step Mother Is An Alien recorded 1,694,000 viewers and Invisible Man took 1,900,000 in the first week. The late night comedy zone is attracting a few hundred thousand viewers each night, but is being drowned out of the picture on Wednesday nights by Channel 4.
Channel 5 is also failing to draw the desired crowds to its day-time programmes. Its morning shows are failing to hit the 100,000 mark. The early afternoon soaps and talk shows are helping to boost the ratings in to the 100,000’s.
5’s first Saturday night on-air saw it trailing far behind its terrestrial partners, achieving a high of 775,000 consolidated viewers and a low of 29,000 between 8pm and midnight.
