Over three months before it is due to go on the air Virgin Radio is already securing deals with national advertisers, some of whom will make their radio debuts on April 30 when the station begins transmission.
Carling Black Label was first to book airtime, with McDonalds and Express Newspapers also keen to advertise over the launch period. Sales director, John Pearson is enthusiastic about the launch, given that rumours were abounding late last year that it would never get off the ground. He says “The addition of Carling Black Label as a new radio advertiser shows that nation- al radio has the ability to grow the medium. It’s great to have this level of response three months from our launch.”
