UNM Seeks New Route To Digital TV

United News & Media are in discussions with S4C to take a 30% stake its new digital TV company S4C Digital Networks (SDN).

SDN was yesterday awarded the digital terrestrial Multiplex A licence, though the ITC stressed that this was conditional on the broadcaster finding another stakeholder in order to strengthen its financial position.

United would have had a 30% stake in NTL’s Digital Television Network had it won the licence to broadcast on Multiplexes B, C and D. This was instead awarded to British Digital Broadcasting and so SDN represents a second chance for Lord Hollick’s media group to gain a foothold in the digital terrestrial TV market which is due to launch next July.
