Barker & Ralston Go For Mountain View

Barker & Ralston Go For Mountain View

Barker & Ralston will be merging with management consultancy firm PDP International to create a new company called Mountain View with a combined annual fee income of over £4 million.

The main shareholders in the venture will be David Barker and Derek Ralston as well as Thomas Bayne, PDP’s chief executive. The move is a welcome boost for the Soho agency whose future appeared in doubt earlier this year when Abbey National and Saab defected. At first it was believed that Barker & Ralston would join up with McCann Erickson (subscribers see McCanns In Talks With Ralston), but it now appears that the agency has opted to go for the “consultancy” approach which many in the industry fear will lead to loss of business for both full-service agencies and dedicated media buying and planning outfits.
