CD Market To Nearly Double By 2001

A report carried out by Datamonitor concludes that the European CD hardware market will almost double over the next five years. By 2001 this market is expected to reach 16 million units, 24% of which will be accounted for by business purchases.

The consumer sales sector currently accounts for 79% of sales, while education and business account for 2% and 19% respectively. By 2001 education is expected to account for 4%, and business 24% of the market share. Datamonitor predict that businesses will use CD-ROMS for a wide range of services, from annual reports to public promotions.
