Weekend FT Booked In For A Facelift

The weekend edition of the Financial Times is to have a facelift. The traditional masthead will be replaced by the initials FT and the new look will be unveiled on March 8.

The move is intended to differentiate the paper from the daily editions. Each section will be colour-coded and the publishers hope that the editorial will have wider appeal. The new FT Weekend is aiming to increase overall circulation by 2% within a year. A £500,000 multimedia campaign will coincide with the relaunch.

This announcement is part of a general move by the paper to expands its editorial coverage. The FT is to add a weekly sport’s section on March 7 *FT To Take A Sporting Chance. Vauxhall Omega is the lead advertiser for this section.
