Media Playground: meet the chairs

MediaTel’s ‘Everything Digital in a Day’ conference, Media Playground, which will be running as a part of Ad Week Europe on March 20, has announced its final chairs for the day’s panels, including ex-Times and Financial Times media editor Raymond Snoddy, Media Consultant Graham Lovelace, Newsline columnist and ex-editor of Campaign, Dominic Mills, and Peter Cowley, founder and CEO of Spirit Digital Media.

The day will consist of four key panels – Screen, Social, Data and Mobile – each made up of a number of industry experts offering insight and debate on some of the biggest issues facing the industry.

In all, 29 panellists will be taking part throughout the day. Here we present their chairs…

Graham-Lovelace

Screen – Graham Lovelace

The Screen panel will kick-start the day, chaired by Graham Lovelace. Lovelace currently runs Lovelace Consulting, the convergent media specialist. He also advises SecondSync as a non-exec director, and is co-founder of The Infographics Agency.

With nearly 30 years experience in print, broadcast and interactive media as journalist, editor, consultant and entrepreneur, Lovelace is also founder of Lovelacemedia Limited, the media intelligence provider sold to The Press Association in 2004; founding director of Teletext Limited and founding director of Associated New Media.

Lovelace will chair the panel through an in depth look at the main players in the television market, before looking at the connected television market as a whole – which is becoming increasingly significant in the screen industry.

Is it nonsense to suggest the first screen in the living room is not the TV? Do agencies still see VOD as largely ITV player and 4OD? Has Sky’s new “open” strategy ensured it retains its huge lead in the pay TV market?

Social – Peter Cowley

Next up, delegates will be invited to attend the Social Media panel, which Peter Cowley, Founder and CEO of Spirit Digital Media, will oversee.

Prior to starting up Spirit in 2010, Cowley was MD of Digital Media for Endemol UK and global head of original digital programming at Endemol International. Cowley has spent his working career in content, internet portals and access, marketing and advertising. Peter is also non-executive director at Enteraction and Yospace and is a trustee at YouthNet.

The Social panel is set to tackle the effects that social media has on branding and programming, whether Twitter can become a genuine advertising platform and what the current most exciting opportunities in the social media industry are.

Data Debate – Dominic Mills

Newsline columnist Dominic Mills will chair the Data Debate, which is set to cover targeted advertising, premium advertising in a digital world, where to find the best connected campaigns and asking how can industry research and big data work together?

Dominic is the former editorial director for Haymarket Business Media and current group editor and consultant editor for Redwood Publishing, as well as manning his own outfit, Dominic Mills Media.

Dominic writes every Monday for Newsline, focussing largely on the advertising industry.

Raymond Snoddy

Mobile – Raymond Snoddy

Later in the day, Raymond Snoddy will chair two sessions – a Q&A with Wired editor David Rowan and the final session, Mobile, which includes Facebook’s Ed Couchman and Carat’s Dan Hagan plus Mobile Fix LIVE with Simon Andrews.

Snoddy is a Newsline columnist and ex-Times and Financial Times media editor – he also spent 8 years as presenter of BBC’s NewsWatch. Prior to his work at the BBC he presented Hard News on Channel 4.

You can still book tickets for just £195 here.
