Star Bill-Board Spenders
The results of an outdoor advertising survey show that clothing advertisers like Nike and Burton doubled their annual poster spend last year to £8.4 million. It is reported, in MediaWeek, that the research, carried out by Poster Publicity and Media Monitoring Services, reveals that the clothing sector is now one of the top-ten outdoor advertising spenders. The figures do not include advertising spending.
The motoring industry remains the biggest spender on the medium. The industry increased its spend by 69% last year to £70 million. Government and political advertisers increased their spend by 96% and entertainment and media advertisers spend rose by 71% year on year.
Six sheet posters saw the biggest overall revenue increase up 63% to £105 million. The drinks’ industry reduced its advertising in this sector by 6%. This is likely to be a result of the 1995 lift of the ban on spirit advertising on television.
