EMAP Radio and GWR are both involved in rival radio stations in Yorkshire. EMAP Radio will be transmitting three new Magic stations and GWR will be contributing programmes to Classic Gold. Both these stations will be aiming at a 35-45 year old audience.
EMAP Radio has abandoned its traditional golden oldie programme format. This golden image is being replaced by a new adult contemporary sound, with music from successful established musicians like Elton John. Classic Gold is owned by Bradford-based, Radio Partnership, the station plans to stick to the sixties and seventies favourites. Previously EMAP had the supply contract for this station, but GWR have taken-over.
GWR recently sold three of its gold AM radio stations to Radio First for £730,000 *GWR Sells Gold Stations.
