Bell Cablemedia Announce Losses
Bell Cablemedia, the cable telephones and television operator, made losses last year of £95.7 million. This is a result of the cable company’s £685 million takeover of Videotron. However, the Videotron deal helped Bell Cablemedia’s revenues to rise by 78% to £76.9 million; telephone income is up 84% to £43.4 million and cable customers almost doubled to 315,323..
Bell Cablemedia is also to merge with Mercury Communications in a £5 billion deal. The new merged group is to be called Cable and Wireless Communications and will include Nynex CableComms, another cable company.
