C4 Pays £87.1m To ITV Companies

The ITC announced this morning that Channel 4 will pay £87.1m to the Independent Television Commission which will then distribute it to the ITV companies.

The ITC has determined that for 1996 total terrestrial qualifying revenue was £2,256.7m with C4’s coming in at £490.3m. Because this exceeds 14% of the total revenue figure, 50% of the surplus must be given to the ITV companies.
