ITV Uncovers ‘The Truth About Sponsorship’

The ITV Sponsorship Committee is tomorrow holding its annual conference, this year called The Truth About Sponsorship. Details from ITV’s research in this field will be available on Newsline shortly afterwards.

After ten years, broadcast sponsorship has grown to an estimated £45 million per year, of which £35 million goes to ITV. Predictions show that the market will grow to be worth over £100 million in the next ten years.

ITV recently appointed research group IPSOS RSL to provide extensive market tracking that will offer ‘greater differentiation between advertising and sponsorship recognition.’ IPSOS-RSL’s tracking begins with this Autumn’s ITV schedule, and the contract runs for the next two years.

Sandra Greer, head of IPSOS RSL’s Sponsorship Unit said: “Companies have begun to realise the huge potential that sponsorship can offer, and this study further endorses the recognition that sponsorship, like other forms of marketing, must be tracked and researched.”
