UK: AA agrees new position for EP

The Advertising Association has updated its position on commercial communication, to be considered in the context of the EP’s consideration of the Follow-Up Communication on Commercial Communications. The Advertising Association’s letter to Jessica Larive MEP, the EP Rapporteur, stresses the urgent need for the Commission to back its words with actions, especially when considering the several complaints against infringements of the Treaty in the commercial communications sector. The Advertising Association “believes that until real progress is made with ensuring that the rights of legitimate commercial communication are protected within the single market, the work of the member states’ Expert Group and the application of the proportionality assessment methodology may be compromised.”.
