The latest NRS figures for national newspapers show that, similar to results for August of this year, The Mirror was the only title to see an increase in its readership, which rose 2% to 6,281,000.

The Guardian suffered the biggest loss in terms of proportion of readership, with its figure falling a huge 20.8%, an actual loss of 275,000 readers, leaving it with a total of 1,048,000.

The biggest actual loss in readers was sustained by The Sunday People, which lost a massive 766,000 readers, 15.7% of its total readership, leaving it with a readership of 4,119,000 for September 1998.

In terms of total readership for September 1998, The News Of The World is still the most read title, with a total readership of 10,971,000 according to the latest NRS data. However, the title did suffer a fall in readership of 3.6%, an actual change of 412,000.
