Cable & Wireless released its interim financial results today for the six months ended 30 September 1998.
Revenue increased 14% to £1,257 million for September 1998, and profit before and after taxation for the period was £65 million. Operating profit increased 28% to £157 million.
Earnings per share increased 12% to 4.9p.
Chief executive, Graham Wallace, said: “We are uniquely placed to profit from the rapid growth in Internet, data and advanced services. I believe our combined approach of investing for revenue growth and cost efficiency will result in improved profitability and returns to shareholders.”
