The Independent Television Commission is this week inviting groups to apply for licences to provide television services over a cable or telephone network to the four million UK homes currently not in a cable franchise area.
The licences are to be used to provide broadband cable services or to provide broadcast entertainment services using existing telephone networks, and will be non-exclusive licenses for the whole of unfranchised Britain.
Applications can be submitted up until noon, Friday 30 June 2000,
