Women’s Title Editor Moves On

The editor of IPC’s popular women’s title Marie Claire, Juliet Warkentin, resigned from the magazine yesterday morning, and has been appointed managing director for marketing and home shopping at Arcadia Group.

Juliet commented on her departure: “The decision to leave the magazine was a difficult one for me to make. Marie Claire is a joy to edit, no other magazine even comes close. Our mandate is to challenge, stimulate and amaze readers with strong features, and inspire with its fashion, beauty and lifestyle shoots – a mix that is unique in women’s magazines.”

The last ABC figures showed that Marie Claire had the second highest circulation in its field, and Colin Reeves-Smith, managing director of European Magazines (UK Marie-Claire publisher), commented: “Juliet leaves us at a key point in the magazine’s history with the 10th birthday issue achieving the highest ever sales figure since launch, as well as the editorial team winning yet more industry accolades for the titles’ now famous reporting style. We wish Juliet the very best of luck in her new role.”

A replacement editor is yet to be announced for the title.
