Satellite Channel Licence May Be Revoked

Med TV, the satellite channel for Kurdish viewers in Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, has been warned by the Independent Television Commission (ITC) that it may have its licence revoked for failure to comply with the Commission Programme Code.

The TV watchdog says that the channel has broadcast programmes which are an incitement to crime as well as biased political coverage where politicians were used as news reporters.

Earlier in the year the channel faced a catalogue of fines by the ITC for similar breaches of the licence Code, mainly relating to issues of impartiality (see ITC Fines Satellite Channel £90,000).
