Talk Radio, the station which was recently bought by Kelvin MacKenzie’s consortium TalkCo (see Newsline), has announced a deal with Sky Sports News to provide listeners with up-to-the-minute results and interviews. The deal gives Talk Radio access to Sky Sport’s audio material 24 hours a day.
Kelvin MacKenzie commented on the deal: “This deal will enable Talk to begin competing on sport with Radio 5 Live which has conducted a monopoly, paid for by the tax-payer, for far too long.”
TalkCo is financially backed by News International which in turn holds a 40% stake in BSkyB.
