FTSE-100 Loses Billions Over Fears Of Russian Economic Crisis

More than £15 billion was wiped off the value of shares today as the stock market went into freefall on fears of a Russian economic meltdown.

Within minutes of opening the FTSE-100 index of leading shares dropped down 90.5 points but it later recovered slightly to stand 81.6 points down at 5380.6.

Traders bailed out of key stocks over renewed concern about the worsening state of the Russian economy and fears the rouble could be devalued.
