EMAP Metro’s latest venture – code name Project J – is being kept under lock and key by its creators. Its editor-to-be, Mark Frith, could confirm only one thing: “It will be a high frequency entertainment magazine.”
The launch date towards the end of the year is speculative as well as vague, and EMAP is rumoured to have poached journalists from the likes of BIG, Minx and Sky. Frith expressed no uncertainty about the project and a number of staff have been confirmed. Jonathan Sellers, ex-writer at FHM , is currently involved in Project J, as is Dave Spedding, previously features writer on Minx.
Whilst such a secretive build up creates a climate of expectation, such a strategy could well backfire on EMAP, especially if the publication doesn’t materialise. Either way, Project J is currently gestating, but its birth date and manifestation can only be guessed at.
