Front Row Is First In Line

According to its first set of buy rate figures released this week, the movies-on-demand service Front Row is three times more popular than predicted at the time of its launch back in March (see Newsline). The buy rates were 34% for July.

According to the independent RSMB quarterly survey for June, Front Row has a 1% share of all television viewing in the ares where it is available and is apparently exceeding any other movies-on-demand service. The service is available for subscribers to Telewest, NTL, Diamond Cable and General Cable at a cost of £2.99 a film.

Andy Birchall, chief executive of Front Row,commented: “The success of the Front Row service is extremely encouraging, and we believe that the choice, quality, value and ease-of-use provided by the service have all played a part in this. Clearly people are voting with their fingers on their remote control buttons.”
