Good News From Johnston As Profits Jump

Johnston Press, one of Britain’s leading regional newspaper publishers, has reported profits up by more than a quarter.

The Edinburgh-based company believes its prospects for the rest of the year are healthy and has hinted at the prospect of further acquisitions.

In the 26 weeks to 30 June, Johnston made a pre-tax profit of £24.9 million on £100 million continuing turnover – this compares with £19.35 million on £96.8 million during the same months last year.
