Cable TV Continues Its Steady Growth
The steady rise in the popularity of cable television is continuing as penetration has risen for the third successive quarter according to ITC data out this week.
The quarterly ITC report says that, against seasonal trends, cable TV penetration was up to 22.5% for July 1998. This is approaching the highest level ever previously reached in January 1991 when penetration (number of homes receiving cable television compared to those passed, or able to receive it) stood at 22.8%. At this time however, the number of homes passed was only 1.8 million; there are now 11.7 million homes able to receive cable TV.
