More Internal Changes At The Observer
In the wake of having announced 17 redundancies last week (see Newsline), The Observer’s editor Roger Alton has announced that the paper is to take on Andy Malone as home editor.
Roger Alton said of the appointment:”Andy is an extremely talented journalist with a high level of experience both as a reporter and as an editor. He has an instinctive feel for the Sunday news agenda and we are sure he will bring an extra focus and sharpness to The Observer’s already powerful news operation.”
The appointment will be effective from mid-October.
The Observer saw a fall of 9.5% in circulation according to the latest ABC figures (Subscribers see full item in Press features list), and claimed the redundancies late last week were due to essential budget cuts.
