The latest figures for online ABC monitored newsbrands show much healthier results than June, with the guardian.co.uk the only website to see any decline over the month.

In July, guardian.co.uk was down -1.7% – a total loss of 84,302 daily average unique browsers, seeing it slip further away from the five million mark.

MailOnline led the ranks once more, up 8.8% (710,779) to a total daily unique browser figure of just over 8.8 million – double guardian.co.uk which still easily holds the second spot.

The Independent online saw the greatest percentage increase over the month at 11.5%, netting an extra 125,900 unique daily browsers.

The Telegraph online and Mirror Digital Group both experienced slight gains, up 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively.

The Sun+ was up 3.1% in July, but advertisers and competitors will be keen to watch what happens in future ABC reports after the introduction of a paywall on August 1.

Early reports from Experian already show that the Sun+’s 1.81% July web market share dropped to 0.81% on 1 August, and between 1 August and 11 August experienced an overall fall of 36%.

However, Experian said that the data was a positive result for the Sun as it has still retained the majority of its original market share since deciding to charge users for content.
