A decision on the future of The European is yet to be made after speculation today that discussions between the paper and Bloomberg Business News have broken down. The paper was believed to be considering options of a business partnership from both Bloomberg and Times Warner (see Newsline).
A spokesperson for The European told Newsline this afternoon: “We were in active and substantiative discussions with two groups. We have now decided not to continue with one of the offers and that group has been informed. Negotiations with the second group have reached the stage where heads of agreement have been drawn up. Discussions to resolve negotiations will continue. Only when a legal agreement has been entered into can an announcement be made.”
