IPC To Close Two Titles

IPC To Close Two Titles

IPC has said that it will be closing its Vox and GMTV Magazine titles and suspending publication of Goal . These magazines will cease publication after their June issues.

IPC told Newsline that it is in talks with other parties regarding the sale of Goal and an announcement is expected soon.

Sales of the GMTV title, which only launched in April last year, are understood to have been disappointing while, as the chart below demonstrates, the circulation of Vox magazine has fallen from over 100,000 in 1991 to 55,000 in 1997. Goal‘s circulation has fallen from a high of 52,000 when it launched in 1995 to 30,000 in 1997.

It has been known for some time that IPC has been keen to reassess its portfolio of magazines following the management buyout in January this year (see IPC Envisages 100 Titles BY 2000).
