RA Invites Comments On Xfm Takeover
The Radio Authority is inviting comments from the public and interested parties on the subject of Xfm ‘s proposed takeover by Capital Radio (see Capital’s Xfm Move Dependent On Watchdogs).
A public interest test, which assesses if a takeover would be expected to operate against the public’s interest, is automatically invoked when a company proposes to acquire a station which overlaps with another on the same wavelength it already owns.
Comments on the matter should be made in writing to the address below by 5 June 1998.
Licensing Officer The Radio Authority Holbrook House 14 Great Queen St London WC2B 5DG
0171 430 2724
An interview with Richard Park, Capital Radio’s director of programming, regarding the station’s planned acquisition of Xfm will be available on Newsline shortly.
