BBC Outdoes ITV At Bafta Awards

ITV claimed only four awards at last night’s Bafta awards ceremony whilst the two BBC terrestrial channels picked up most of the others.

Whilst ITV won awards for A Touch of Frost (the important viewers’ award) and the Southbank Show, No Child of Mine and Roger Cook, BBC2 did particularly well on the comedy front. The Fast Show won two awards (for best light entertainment performance and best light entertainment show) and I’m Alan Partridge was announced as best comedy programme or series.

Holding On won the best drama serial award and Jonathan Creek was judged the best drama series. The BBC was also presented awards for Tom Jones (best original music) and Panorama (news and current affairs).

Sky won an award for its live coverage of Rugby Union.
