Newsquest, the largest regional newspaper publisher in England, has announced today that it has agreed to acquire Review Free Newspapers Limited for £6.07 million. The takeover is subject to approval by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
Review Free Newspapers had a turnover of £3.51m in the year to 31 December 1997 and is based in St Albans. It publishes three free newspapers, delivered to more than 128,000 households in Hertfordshire.
Jim Brown, executive chairman of Newsquest, said that the newspapers were a “perfect strategic fit with Newsquest’s existing portfolio of leading titles in London and in the home counties.”
Newsquest Quarter 1 financial results are due to be released tomorrow.
