The Department of Transport has been in discussions with the EC Transport Directorate-General with the aim of producing draft EC proposals on road safety and car advertising. It is understood that these proposals will include a suggested code of practice for car advertising which may exclude speed and acceleration claims. The proposals are largely based on the Council of Transport Ministers Resolution in 1989.
