Regional VFDs – Free Titles July – December 1997

Not all regional free titles have reported VFD figures for the period Jul 97 – Dec 97; they have been discounted in this analysis. The London-based Informer Series has achieved the highest circulation of all the regional free titles in this period, recording a VFD figure of 484,131. However, this represents a fall of 2.6% year on year, from a VFD of 497,091. The Edinburgh Herald & Post Series gained only 3,093 distributed copies to take second place in the table.

The biggest loss amongst the big distributors was suffered by the Cambridge Weekly News Series which feel 4.9% to a distribution of 154,323 copies.

The climber in this period is the St. Albans & Harpenden Observer which increased its distribution by a formidable 41.8% taking its VFD figure to 53,045 copies. The Bexley Mercury also performed well, increasing it distribution from 40,558 for the same period last year to 45,735 for Jul 97 – Dec 97.
