CES 2014: Netflix to stream content in 4K on LG Smart TVs

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has announced that the new series of House of Cards will be streamed in ultra-high definition to LG Smart TVs.

Speaking at the annual Consumer Electronics Show event in Las Vegas earlier this week, Hastings confirmed the rumours that the Netflix exclusive would become the first programme to be shown by the online video platform in 4K when the second series premiers.

Last month, Hastings said that Netflix wants to be “one of the biggest suppliers of 4K content” this year.

Rival manufacturers LG and Samsung unveiled new curved screen TV models on Tuesday at the same show – both capable of 4K streams – however, LG is to become Netflix’s pioneering partner in testing out shows in ultra-HD.
