Billett Consultancy Releases TV Trading Forecasts For 1999

The Billett Consultancy, has released its 1999 forecasts for TV trading in its report ‘An Advertiser’s Guide To The Broadcast Negotiation Battlefield’, using its Time Tracker monitor. It predicts the following:

  • That the growth rate of TV ad revenue will slow to 5%;
  • That the BBC’s 40% audience share is destined to be breached after commercial viewing broke through the 60% barrier this year for the first time;
  • The News At Ten move is to be popular with the buyers as ITV’s revenue grows by 3%. Although the new schedule arrangements will boost the channel’s peak viewing share, on the whole it will lose audience;
  • Minimum cost inflation for 1999.
  • Channel 5 will be the fastest growing channel;
  • Satellite revenue and audience growth will slow.
