Granada Looks At 5 Years To Sell BSkyB Stake

The media and leisure group, Granada, is planning on selling its 10.8% stake in BSkyB within the next five years.

As Sky winds up to its ‘hard’ digital launch this summer, a conflict of interest grows for Granada: Sky’s digital rival, terrestrial broadcaster British Digital Broadcasting (BDB), is 50% owned by Granada.

A spokesperson for the group said that whilst a disposal of the stake was not imminent, Granada does have long term plans to relinquish its interests in BSkyB.

BDB launches its digital terrestrial service in Autumn this year. The 15 channel service available at launch is expected to augment siginificantly within a short space of time, according BDB chief executive Stephen Grabiner.

BSkyB unveiled its new logo for digital services earlier this week (see Sky Unveils Digital Logo).
