Complainants Describe Pot Noodle Ad As Overtly Sexual And Sado-Masochistic

According to the latest standards and fairness complaints bulletin from the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC), nine viewers complained about a recent advert for Pot Noodle claiming that it had been inappropriately scheduled.

The complainants said that the ad was overtly sexual and implied sado-masochism. Some also believed that it degraded men and others found the portrayal of prison staff offensive.

The ad was broadcast in three different versions, the longer of which was approved without restriction. This version was subsequently restricted during children’s programming; the other versions were not. The complaints of the original scheduling of the longer ad were upheld by the BSC.
