Sky One’s New Look Omnibus Draws Extra Viewers
Last night’s X Files and Friends bonanza on Sky One doubled the cable and satellite channel’s audience compared with viewing taken from a Sunday night a few weeks earlier, according to unofficial overnight figures.
The double-length episodes of The X Files and The Simpsons, and the Friends series finale, were scheduled by Sky to coincide with the launch of the channel’s new look and logo.
Unofficial figures show that the channel received an average of 1.2 million viewers (Individuals 4+) between the hours of 6:00pm and 11:00pm last night. On the Sunday night of the week ending 10/05/98, for the same schedule slot, the average viewing was 0.6 million viewers according to BARB data.
