UK Businesses “Confused By Internet”, Report Claims
A report from the Internet Marketing and Development Agency shows that, despite the attention being given to the internet in the media, British businesses believe that it is something that still doesn’t seem to affect them.
While 98% of those surveyed had “heard of the internet”, only 12% believed that it had any bearing on their present business. Other findings include: fewer than 5% realised that there was any issue of brand or marketing strategy when picking a domain name; only 2% knew it was possible for a business to operate with multiple domain names that all pointed to the same website or mailbox; 28% believed that the internet would have an impact on their future business but were not sure how.
Another worrying aspect of the report was that 93% said that they did not know any examples of business making money from an internet presence (other than companies selling internet services or conducting surveys).
