BARB Broadens Shareholders
BARB will be broadening its shareholders to include the IPA, BSkyB, Channel 4, Flextech and Channel 5.
The board of BARB, currently jointly owned by the BBC and ITVA, decided on expansion at a meeting last week. The aim of the move is to make BARB fully representative of the television industry and, as it continues to evolve, further additions to the board may occur.
On behalf of ITVA Clive Jones commented: “It is vital that BARB fully reflects the nature of the industry it services and represents. ITV is delighted with the new broad based shareholding of broadcasters and advertising practitioners.”
It is envisaged that the new structure will be in place from 1 August 1998.
