Rumours are currently rife that Rosie Boycott, co-editor of the Independent titles along with Andrew Marr, will be announcing her resignation today. It is thought that the dual-editorship situation created tension at the newspapers.
In a further twist it is expected that Boycott will join the Express to replace Richard Addis as editor, who is rumoured to be resigning today. His departure is said to be due to dissatisfaction with the titles’ recent circulation performance.
If Boycott does resign it will be a further blow to the titles which had hoped to find some much-needed stability under the new ownership of Independent Newspapers (subscribers see Independent Gets New Owner).
No one at the Independent would comment on the rumours when contacted this morning by Newsline.
