Vacancies On Broadcasting Public Bodies To Get Press Advertising For First Time
Culture Secretary Chris Smith has decided that vacancies on the Independent Television Commission, the Radio Authority and the Broadcasting Standards Commission will be advertised in the press for the first time.
This follows the first ever advertising of BBC Governorships in March this year (see BBC Governorships To Be Advertised For The First Time). Advertisements will appear in the national press from 16 July 1998.
“I attach great importance to the work of these organisations, as do broadcasters, viewers and listeners. I am therefore determined that we have a good pool of suitable candidates from which to make appointments. I would encourage applications from well-qualified people who might not otherwise have considered a public appointment.”
