Local World announces new digital director role

Regional newspaper publisher Local World has announced the appointment of Matt Kelly for its new digital director role.

Kelly, who is currently director of global news design and strategy agency Sol361, will lead the delivery of digital product and strategy for Local World, working closely with the broader business to help strengthen its multi-platform development.

Commenting on the appointment, Kelly said: “At the very core of Local World’s strategy is a profoundly transformative vision for digital content and advertising. I’m terrifically excited about joining the team.”

Local World was formed in 2012 by former Trinity Mirror chief executive, David Montgomery, and publishes over 100 daily titles.

Kelly’s previous experience spans from a number of senior roles at the Daily Mirror, to digital publisher and director of content of the national newspaper division of Trinity Mirror Group.

He will join Local World on 16 June 2014 and will report to Group CEO, Montgomery.
