July-December 1997 ABCs – General Sport
Some sports sector titles audit their circulations yearly, whilst the rest are six monthly. Looking firstly at the yearly audits (the periods Jan-Dec 1996 to Jan-Dec 1997), the biggest change is a large drop in circulation for Coarse Angling. This title lost just over 17% of its circulation year on year, taking its figure to 22,000 copies.
Sporting Gun‘s circulation also dropped for 1997, by 7.2% from around 32,000 to 29,000. The main title to audit yearly and increase its circulation was Cycling Plus, up by 5%.

Of the titles which are audited every six months, the most significant change was with Stillwater Trout Angler which lost just under 21% of its circulation year on year. It sold 16,730 copies in the six months from July-Dec 1997.

Cycle Sport achieved an increase in circulation of 11.2% taking its figure to just over 26,000. Emap Metro’s Total Sport lost the greatest amount of circulation, down 6209 copies, a drop of 10.4%. It circulated at just over 53,000 copies in this ABC audit period.
