Turkey Lovers Complain To ITC

The scene in Coronation Street when Les Battersby accidentally ran a turkey over proved too much for a number of viewers who complained to the ITC that the scene was “in poor taste, especially at Christmas time.”

The ITC, however, considered the scene to be justified by the comic context and by its brevity: all that was shown was a flash shot of a turkey’s head, followed by a flurry of feathers.

The Commission did not consider that the scene had been irresponsibly filmed, or that it was unsuitable for family viewing time, and the complaints were not upheld.
